Subterrain.
Sub-Terrain is a Landscape Architecture project based on the Brisbane River. What is investigated in this research project is living with flood, and the world that is revealed beneath the upper crust of the land. Beneath these layers there are grotto spaces, refuges and a constant growth - weathering of materials and land.
Sub-Terrain uses a method of layering topography, and insertion of objects within those layers that will be partially or wholly submerged. The design facilitates growth, and aims to be a positive platform for a changing, dynamic environment. Water is an unpredictable agent of change, and is allowed to come in and flood different layers and landscape objects. The water comes into the project with the tide, takes part of the site and over time reveals a new landscape.
