Okas.
Okas House was designed for a couple in the coastal town of 1170, and intended as a home that will accommodate a lifestyle of travel, connectivity with the landscape and freedom to explore. The design approach involved the careful consideration of materials and manufacturers very early - and working backwards from there. Using local craft, ceramics and sustainable resources where possible.
Rooms and spaces in the house are unconventional. The functions are unprescribed and can adapt in size depending on use or weather. There are no distinct boundaries between inside and outside space. The home itself is not a ‘container’ but part of the land, the wildlife and ecosystems.
